WWE Botches Roman Reigns’ Return With Serious Error

Roman Reigns WWE

WWE accidentally spoiled Roman Reigns’ return through a simple TV listing error.

WWE sent out a syndicated TV listing (the short description that goes into TV guides and streaming apps) for an upcoming episode, but they mistakenly used a Raw write‑up as the listing for SmackDown.

That Raw listing included two lines: one about Maxxine Dupri recovering from her loss to Becky Lynch, and another that explicitly said, “Roman Reigns returns.”

Because this listing was sent to TV guide services, fans saw it in their cable/streaming program info and immediately noticed the Reigns line, which wasn’t supposed to be public yet.

WWE “Screwed Up” Roman Reigns’ Return

Dave Meltzer explained on Wrestling Observer Radio that this was an internal production mistake, saying that someone at WWE sent the wrong show description, accidentally revealing Reigns’ return early.

“I saw… okay, so on the… what’s it called—this little scroll. Scroll for SmackDown… Because it said, ‘How Maxxine Dupri tries to recover from her loss to Becky Lynch’ and ‘Roman Reigns returns.’ That’s the thing that WWE sent to the TV Guide people… they sent it for SmackDown. So somebody just screwed up.”

The last time the WWE Universe saw the Tribal Chief in action was at Survivor Series 2025.

He was part of the babyface team in the men’s WarGames match, where he teamed up with Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, and The Usos (Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso) to go against The Vision’s Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, Logan Paul, Drew McIntyre, and Brock Lesnar (with Paul Heyman).

The babyfaces lost the match after a masked man (who later turned out to be Austin Theory) attacked Punk, allowing Breakker to capitalize and win the match for his team.
