A former WWE star has opened up about a difficult moment in their career.

Former WWE Champion Big E hasn’t wrestled since March 11th, 2022. During a tag team match on SmackDown, the star landed high up on his neck while taking a Belly-to-Belly Suplex outside the ring from Ridge Holland.

Although he avoided surgery and has recovered well enough to live a normal day-to-day life, he confirmed in October that his career is all but over.

While Big E made a point of not blaming Holland for the injury, the same couldn’t be said for sections of the fanbase, and according to the Brit, some members of the company hierarchy.

Ridge Holland Felt Blamed By WWE Management

During a virtual signing with K & S WrestleFest, Holland discussed the injury to Big E and revealed that he felt some members of management held it against him. He added that this had a negative impact on his career.

“I felt it a little bit. I felt it did affect my career from going forward. I never really got started. I think it probably was a black cloud that was hanging over me, from certain members in the hierarchy. Not mentioning any names but, I think it kind of put a black mark on me going forward and it made it very difficult for me to get past that in the eyes of some people in the company.”

On October 13, Ridge Holland announced that he’d been informed by WWE that his contract won’t be renewed when it expires in mid-November. While WWE releases are a fact of life within the industry, the decision was met with anger on social media as Holland is currently out of action after suffering a major foot injury.

The star has since undergone neck surgery.
