WWE Blocks Request From AEW Star Christian Cage

Christian Cage

Christian Cage has suffered a setback.

For several years, Christian Cage believed his career was over after suffering a concussion in 2014. While it wasn’t this specific incident that caused his retirement when added to multiple concussions suffered earlier in his career, it meant he needed to step away.

However, he made a surprise return to action at the 2021 Royal Rumble and went on to sign with AEW two months later. Since then, Cage has won what is now the TNA World Championship, become a two-time TNT Champion as well well as becoming an AEW World Trios Champion.

In November 2024, Christian Cage has his eyes firmly set on the AEW World Championship after winning the Casino Gauntlet Match at All In. As a result, the veteran has a shot at AEW’s top prize whenever he chooses.

Christian Cage Unable To Trademark Nickname

During his time with WWE, Cage was regularly referred to as Captain Charisma, and he recently attempted to trademark the phase. However, according to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the move was opposed by his former employer.

During the same report, Meltzer noted that AEW appears to be building to a four-way match at Worlds End for the World Championship. This will see Cage, Jay White, and Hangman Adam Page challenge World Champion Moxley.

Worlds End is set to take place on December 28th, and while no matches have been announced, the event will feature the semi-finals and final of the Continental Classic. AEW’s answer to NJPW’s G1 Climax kicked off on November 27th with wins for Shelton Benjamin, Brody King, and Claudio Castagnoli.
