WWE WrestleMania IX Wasn’t Popular With Fans
Aside from the sight of Jim Ross in a toga, the event is best remembered for a series of lackluster matches, and Hulk Hogan winning the World Championship despite not being in the original match.
In the main event, Bret Hart was defeated by Yokozuna after Mr. Fuji threw salt in the Hitman’s eyes. As Yokozuna celebrated with the gold, Hogan came to the ring and challenged him to a match on the spot. He promptly beat Yokozuna to claim the title in a little over 20 seconds.
The moment capped off an event full of underwhelming moments, including a snail-paced brawl between The Undertaker and Giant Gonzalez.
