WWE Announces SummerSlam Will Be In Detroit
WWE have confirmed that this year’s SummerSlam will take place in Motor City, with Ford Field in Detroit the location for the hottest show of the summer.
It has also been confirmed that this year’s SummerSlam will be held on Saturday, 5th August, continuing the theme of the major premium live events taking place on a Saturday rather than a Sunday.
It’s been a while since WWE made the journey to Detroit, with SummerSlam to be the first event held at Ford Field since WrestleMania 23 in 2007, which was headlined by John Cena taking on Shawn Michaels.
WWE has issued a full press release about the event where Dave Beachnau, Executive Director of the Detroit Sports Commission, has commented on the hottest show of the summer coming to his city.
Landing WWE SummerSlam at Ford Field is a signature win for Detroit and continues the momentum of the Detroit Sports Commission in attracting major sporting events to the region. Metro Detroit enjoys a special place in WWE history and has produced many iconic moments. Thank you to the entire WWE family for entrusting us with this incredible opportunity, and we look forward to delivering a first-class experience.
For those who have the opportunity to make it to Detroit this August, tickets for the show officially go on sale on Friday, 14th April, although it has already been confirmed that there will be some presale opportunities available.
