WWE Announces Return To Australia
John Cena is returning to Australia with WWE one more time.
In February 2024, WWE took Elimination Chamber to Perth, Australia. The event was held at Optus Stadium, with more than 50,000 fans cramming into the venue to watch some of the biggest names wrestling has to offer.
The event was the first to be held in the country since Super Show-Down in 2018 and was immediately deemed a huge success. So it’s perhaps unsurprising that the company is already plotting a return.
During night two of WrestleMania 41, it was announced that WWE is heading back to the land down under in October.
Although no specific dates were given, the tour will involve Raw and SmackDown tapings as well as a Premium Live Event. The event will be John Cena’s last appearance in Australia as an active performer.
Weekend Of Announcements For WWE
The announcement comes after it was revealed that WWE had acquired famous Mexican promotion AAA.
The news was broken by Michael Cole on the WrestleMania 41 pre-show, not long after a Worlds Collide event pitting NXT and AAA stars against each other was announced.
The exact details of the deal remain unknown, but it’s believed it wasn’t finalised until after AEW announced its debut at Arena Mexico with Grand Slam alongside CMLL in June.
The most recent Grand Slam event was held in Brisbane, Australia, back in February.
