WWE Officially Announces King & Queen Of The Ring
The King of the Ring tournament is set to return on the same night as the first Queen of the Ring tournament takes place as WWE confirms its return to Saudi Arabia this spring.
Crown Jewel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in October 2021 was the last time WWE held a King of the Ring tournament which was won by Xavier Woods. On the same night, the final of the Queen’s Crown tournament was held with Zelina Vega walking away as the victor.
Now WWE has confirmed that the company will return to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Saturday, May 27th for King and Queen Of The Ring. This marks the first King of the Ring-themed premium live event in the company since 2015 and while the Queen’s Crown tournament might be seen as part of the lineage of the women’s tournament, it is the first time the Queen of the Ring title has been used in WWE.
The King of the Ring tournament dates all the way back to 1985 in WWE when it was first won by Don Muraco. The event became an annual pay-per-view in 1993, with the last of those shows held in 2002 when the King of the Ring was Brock Lesnar.
The show will kick off a huge weekend of wrestling action for fans with AEW presenting Double Or Nothing from Las Vegas the following day on the 28th of May.
