WWE Announces Jax vs. Rousey at Money in the Bank (VIDEO), WWE Title Rematch Also Announced
Ronda Rousey will be getting a WWE Raw Women’s Title match in just her second televised match in WWE. Too soon? Probably, but it’s happening. The match will see Rousey challenge current Raw Women’s Champion Nia Jax at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view in Chicago on June 17.
The match was set up in New York City today at the NBC Universal Upfront event in New York City that was attended by Rousey, Charlotte Flair, Nia Jax, Stephanie McMahon and Triple H. You can see how it was set up in the video below when Jax challenged Rousey and Rousey accepted after Charlotte told her to do it.
Here’s the info from WWE.com making the match official:
NEW YORK CITY — Nia Jax shockingly named Ronda Rousey as her next challenger for the Raw Women’s Championship this morning at the NBCUniversal Upfront in New York City’s Radio City Music Hall.
The Irresistible Force revealed she wants to put her title on the line against Rousey at WWE Money in the Bank, much to the surprise of The Baddest Woman on the Planet. Never one to back down from either a challenge or an opportunity, a bewildered Rousey agreed to the match.
This will be Rousey’s first title opportunity since joining WWE earlier this year. When we last saw her compete on WWE TV, she teamed with Raw General Manager Kurt Angle to defeat Stephanie McMahon and Triple H in a Mixed Tag Team Match at WrestleMania.
Can Rousey unseat the imposing Jax and win her first title in WWE? Tune in to WWE Money in the Bank on Sunday, June 17, streaming live on WWE Network.
The women tweeted about it here:

If I’m going to be the best #Raw Women’s Champion, I want to square off against the best. Let’s see how Rowdy @RondaRousey can get. #IrrestibleForce#MITBhttps://t.co/NhFkFftlYE

Charlotte added that she could win Money in the Bank’s ladder match and challenge the winner, so I guess that means a Smackdown star could challenge somebody on Raw or vice versa.
Witnessing history. Glad to say I got to see this up close! But both of you ladies need to be prepared for when I win that #MITB contract. 😎 #RondavsNiahttps://t.co/945j9t7VEf

In other Money in the Bank news, Shane McMahon tweeted that we will get AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura IV at Money in the Bank as well.
Every fan of these athletes is looking for a definitive winner, a CLEAR victor…so I am making it official: @AJStylesOrg vs @ShinsukeN for the @WWE Championship at #MITB. #SDLive

TJR Thoughts: I am surprised by the Rousey title shot already because it will be just her second televised match. Jax also isn’t the greatest opponent in terms of being able to sell moves the right way. Sometimes Jax matches are bad because of that. I figured Rousey would be a in a tag team match at Money in the Bank with Natalya against Alexa Bliss and Mickie James, but I guess that’s not happening now.
As for Styles vs. Nakamura IV, it makes sense after the finish they had at their Backlash match. I just hope it’s a great match from them.
