A former WWE star, who had been engaged in a lawsuit over a non-compete clause, has been allowed to wrestle.

Andrade El Idolo was unceremoniously removed from the Stamford promotion on September 13 after committing multiple disciplinary violations.

After not wrestling for a few days, he showed up on AEW’s Dynamite on October 1, where he attacked Kenny Omega and joined the Don Callis Family in the process.

El Idolo’s former employer took cognizance of this and issued a legal notice to the wrestler and AEW, stating that he had breached his non-compete clause.

Apparently, WWE’s non-compete clause lasts for a full year, during which a released superstar cannot represent any other wrestling company.

While both parties were engaged in a lawsuit, reports emerged that El Idolo could get a reprieve, allowing him to return to the squared circle sooner.

Reportedly, that’s exactly what has happened, as sources claim that his lawyers have successfully negotiated a deal with WWE.

The deal, however, limits Andrade to competing only in Puerto Rico. So, he cannot return to AEW or accept matches in Mexico, Japan, etc.

Andrade Reveals Charlotte Flair’s Role In His WWE Departure

Andrade returned to WWE during the 2024 Royal Rumble to much fanfare.

He was involved in a few good storylines, and at the time of his departure, he had formed a great alliance with Rey Fenix, putting on high-quality matches.

Due to his departure coming at a time when he was at the peak of his career, fans began doubting if his firing had anything to do with his divorce from Charlotte Flair.

During a recent interview on the El Ring podcast, Andrade clarified that Flair did not influence WWE’s decision despite their marriage falling apart.

We started having some problems, and then came the divorce. People ask if she had something to do with my leaving WWE — she didn’t. She never went to management to get me fired or anything like that. I respect her a lot. She was an incredible woman, a great wife. I wish her the best.
