WWE Allegedly Divided Amid Backstage Heat Between The Rock & Triple H
The rumored tension between The Rock and Triple H is allegedly affecting the backstage environment.
The animosity between The Final Boss and The Game during their time as in-ring competitors is well-documented. Nevertheless, they have previously claimed they have moved past that.
The two worked together again after The Rock’s return to WWE last year to become a TKO board member. Although The Final Boss made several appearances in 2024, he disappeared from WWE TV this year after signaling John Cena’s heel turn at Elimination Chamber despite everyone expecting him to play a role in the storyline.
The Rock Allegedly “Laying Low In The Weeds”
Former WWE head writer Vince Russo has been convinced The Rock’s disappearance was due to a fallout with Triple H. Speaking to -7 Sports, the wrestling veteran claimed the Stamford-based company is split into two camps, between The Final Boss and The Game.
The former WCW World Heavyweight Champion disclosed that he believes The Rock “laying low in the weeds,” suggesting that only the change of the old guard would save WWE creatively.
Bro, I gotta tell you something. The only thing I see is I am convinced by looking at the landscape and what’s been going on for especially the last year and what not. I believe there is heat between Triple H and The Rock. I believe there are camps. I believe there are sides. I believe The Rock is laying low in the weeds.
And the only thing that will change the WWE is they need to change the old guard. As long as those guys are overseeing and involved in creative, nothing is ever going to change. Nothing. Now, I know Rock’s got Brian Gewirtz, you know, they work closely for years. And, bro, think of the freaking Hollywood writers that The Rock knows.
Think of The Rock’s rolodex. If he all of a sudden wanted to hire the best writers in Hollywood that he knew to turn wrestling upside down, I believe he could do it. But, man, until you replace that old guard, it’s gonna be the same old same old because that’s all they know. [10:25 onwards]
