WWE Releases Unseen Footage Of Emotional AJ Lee Backstage On SmackDown

AJ Lee returned to WWE on RAW last week.

On the November 17 edition of Monday Night RAW, Lee made a surprise return during the Maxxine Dupri vs Becky Lynch match. She caused a distraction, which helped Dupri capitalize and pin Lynch to become the new WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion.

Later in the show, she had a backstage interview with Jackie Redmond, where she bumped into Rhea Ripley. The two stars teased a union, which was then confirmed on SmackDown.

On the November 21 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, IYO Sky, and Rhea Ripley were in the ring to discuss the upcoming women’s WarGames match.

She announced the fifth member of their team, and it was, as everyone predicted, AJ Lee. Lee’s music hit, and she made her way to the titantron stage.

Just then, Nia Jax, Lash Legend, Kairi Sane, and Asuka ambushed the babyfaces. Lee tried to get to the ring to help her teammates, but she was stopped by an attack from Becky Lynch.

WWE recently released an unseen backstage video where Lee can be seen preparing for her SmackDown appearance. She can be seen being slightly emotional, nervous, and excited at the same time.

CM Punk ON AJ Lee’s WWE Return

AJ Lee has tons of fans and supporters across the globe, but no one’s a bigger fan of hers than her own husband, CM Punk. The Best in the World recently had an interview with Mark Titus and Brandon Walker of Mostly Sports, where he commented on Lee’s return to WWE.

Punk said, “Awesome. Super super awesome. I’m just excited that she gets to experience what a different place it is now and like how much it’s changed, and like how her influence has, you know, created all these other women to follow their dreams. Like it’s been amazing. It’s been fun.”

Lee made her WWE comeback before Wrestlepalooza after being away from the company for over 10 years.
