WWE May Have Accidentally Spoiled Unannounced Wrestlepalooza Title Match
A title match may be added to the WWE Wrestlepalooza lineup even though it hasn’t been announced on television yet.
The first-ever WWE Wrestlepalooza PLE will take place on Saturday, September 20th, in Indianapolis. It’s a huge event for WWE because it’s the start of their new billion-dollar deal with ESPN as the new home of PLEs in the US.
Going into the September 19th edition of SmackDown in Toledo, Ohio, there are currently five matches advertised for the show. However, a sixth match may be added.
It has been mentioned by many fans at the Wrestlepalooza Store in Indianapolis that an official event shirt lists a new match – Tiffany Stratton defending the WWE Women’s Championship against Nia Jax and Jade Cargill in a triple threat match.
When Stratton defended the Women’s Title against Cargill on the September 12th edition of SmackDown, the match ended in a double countout when Cargill hit a Spear on Stratton to put her through the barricade.
After the match, the bully Jax made her presence felt at ringside by attacking both women and making it clear she wants the title that Stratton beat her for back in January.
While WWE could certainly announce the Stratton-Cargill-Jax match on social media before SmackDown, they could wait until SmackDown itself to make it official.
Brock Lesnar Will Face John Cena In Opening Match At WWE Wrestlepalooza
The final John Cena-Brock Lesnar match is one of the most highly anticipated matches at Wrestlepalooza, and it’s a match that could main event any PLE at any time. Instead, WWE has announced that the Lesnar-Cena match will open Wrestlepalooza when the show begins at 7 p.m. ET from Indianapolis.
That likely means that the main event of Wrestlepalooza could be the Cody Rhodes WWE Title defense against Drew McIntyre, or perhaps the mixed tag with CM Punk and his wife, AJ Lee, facing off against Seth Rollins and his wife, Becky Lynch, in what will be AJ’s first match in over a decade.
- John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar
- CM Punk & AJ Lee vs. Seth Rollins & Becky Lynch
- WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre
- For the Vacant Women’s World Championship: Stephanie Vaquer vs. Iyo Sky
- The Usos – Jimmy & Jey Uso vs. Bronson Reed & Bron Breakker
For now, we won’t list Tiffany Stratton defending the WWE Women’s Title against Nia Jax and Jade Cargill until it’s official, but as mentioned above, it is expected for the show.
You can watch Wrestlepalooza, streaming LIVE Saturday, September 20, at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on ESPN in the United States and on Netflix everywhere else.
