Wrestling Legend Criticizes AEW’s Jon Moxley-Darby Allin Booking Decision
A legendary wrestler isn’t happy about how AEW had Jon Moxley beat Darby Allin on Dynamite.
In the main event of the Dynamite Grand Slam in New York City, Darby Allin put his guaranteed AEW World Title shot on the line against Jon Moxley. It was a title match that Allin had earned by winning a Royal Rampage match several weeks earlier.
Jon Moxley received the match with Allin with the AEW World Title shot on the line even though Moxley hadn’t wrestled in AEW for over three months. The fact that Allin gave Moxley the match for an AEW World Title shot is an example of how Allin is a risk-taker who is willing to put a title shot on the line even when he doesn’t have to do it.
It was a competitive match between Moxley and Allin that ended with a top rope Death Rider DDT by Moxley for the pinfall win. That means Moxley will challenge Bryan Danielson for the AEW World Title at the upcoming WrestleDream PPV.
While speaking on his Keepin’ It 100 podcast, legendary wrestler and booker Konnan questioned the decision to have Allin lose to Moxley on Dynamite.
“This match, I don’t understand why Darby, who to me is the future of the company, he lost to Moxley. Moxley could’ve taken the loss … keep making Darby, so I don’t know why Darby, who is probably the most, to me, the most interesting guy on the show, had to take that loss.”
Konnan Doesn’t Understand Why Jon Moxley Has Marina Shafir As Backup
As he continued, Konnan spoke about how he didn’t think Marina Shafir was a good fit as an ally of Moxley’s in this storyline.
“I don’t understand why they have Shafir out there because, for example, back in the day when they had Chyna, she was imposing, she was big, she looked the part; this one really doesn’t. If you had Nia Jax out there, somebody that size, you’re like ‘alright, I can see it,’ but bro, she’s not that big.”
