Why Major WrestleMania Moment Was Bittersweet For WWE Star
WrestleMania 41 saw many moments etched in history. One star felt mixed emotions at an important moment.
WrestleMania 41 is one for the history books. The show saw a few titles change hands, and one such moment was discussed in detail by current Women’s Intercontinental Champion Lyra Valkyria, when she was in an interview.
Lyra Valkyria has risen through the ranks on the main roster quickly. In her short time, she won the Women’s Intercontinental Championship and the Women’s Tag Team Titles with Becky Lynch. Her victory with The Man came at WrestleMania 41 when she toppled the team of Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez.
On Insight with Chris Van Vilet, the former Tag Team Champion spoke about her victory at WrestleMania 41, calling it bittersweet. She was initially supposed to team up with Bayley, but The Role Model sustained an injury before the PLE. Bayley’s absence led to Becky Lynch coming out as Valyria’s mystery partner.
“It came at the expense of Bayley, which is a bit sad because we clicked so well as a tag team. So it was genuinely hard to have my Mania moment come at an expense. Becky is a big part of the reason I started wrestling. But it was the era of the four horsewomen in NXT. It wasn’t just Becky; Bayley was a massive influence as well. So it did kind of taint how great it was knowing it was coming at her expense.”
Lyra Valkria And Becky Lynch Are At Loggerheads After WrestleMania 41
On the episode of WWE RAW after WrestleMania 41, Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria lost the Women’s Tag Team Titles to Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez in a rematch. After the match, Valkria was attacked by The Man, who left her former tag team partner out for the count.
In the following weeks, the two took shots at each other with Lynch blindsiding Valkyria. At Backlash, they faced each other with Valkyria getting the win. However, she was again blindsided by her foe, leading to her absence from WWE TV until this week.
On this week’s episode of WWE RAW, the Women’s Intercontinental Champion cost her WrestleMania teammate the chance to compete at Money In The Bank when she pulled her out of the ring, allowing Roxanne Perez to capitalize and pin Natalya for the win.
