WrestleMania 41 Contingency Plans Revealed If The Rock Wrestles
A new report suggests that WWE has a plan in place if The Rock decides to wrestle at WrestleMania 41.
The new year means the Royal Rumble is around the corner and WWE fans are ready for WrestleMania 41. On such a loaded WWE roster, there are a lot of rumors about what key players will be slotted in what matches against other big name opponents.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is one of the big names that could have a big match at WrestleMania 41. After all, The Rock pinned Cody Rhodes in a tag team match at WrestleMania 40 Saturday, which has led to speculation that the two men might have a singles match this year.
Regarding a potential WrestleMania 41 match, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has reported that while plans could change, it appears WWE Champion Cody Rhodes could be matched up with John Cena at WrestleMania 41.
“So for WrestleMania, the reports of Rhodes vs. John Cena are accurate as things stand right now…
At first it was the Raw title given Rhodes vs. Rock would be for the other title and People’s belt. This isn’t etched in stone because whatever Rock wants to do, he’s likely going to be able to do. I do know that people are expecting him to appear on the show in some form.
As for wrestling on the show, I even know people at the top who are expecting that, but it’s not a sure thing and one would think the Netflix show on 1/6 will kick off the season and tip the hand.”
The Rock Could Still Get A Match With Cody Rhodes If He Wants It
After the report from Meltzer came out, it led to a lot of discussions on social media. Ibou of WrestlePurists, who has gotten things right in the past, said on X if Rock does have a match at WrestleMania it would likely be against Cody Rhodes while Cena could face another champion, the World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER.
“Yes, and if Rock does barge his way back in, it’s Cena v Gunther and Cody v Rock.”
It was also previously reported by Ibou that WWE was planning on a Gunther-Seth Rollins match, which would likely happen if The Rock wasn’t part of the card.
As always this time of year, there are going to be rumors about what might happen and nothing is official until WWE confirms it.
