Current WrestleMania 40 Plans For Roman Reigns Revealed

Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns may have lost for the first time in three and a half years at Money In The Bank but the WWE Universal Champion may well remain just that until WrestleMania 40 rolls around.

For the first time since December 2019, Roman Reigns had his shoulders pinned to the mat when Jey Uso defeated the man he once called Tribal Chief at Money In The Bank. Following that result, it has emerged that Jey Uso could be on a collision course with Reigns again at SummerSlam in Detroit.

However, it seems that there are still grander plans at work in WWE regarding Reigns and his historic title reign that could mean he remains champion until at least WrestleMania 40.

Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio noted that the plan seems to be for Reigns to once again meet Cody Rhodes after Rhodes noted that winning the World Heavyweight Championship currently held by Seth Rollins wouldn’t finish his story:

“His storyline is that the belt that his father didn’t win – which is apparently Roman’s belt – that’s the one that’s the story.

“So basically, he almost has said it’s next year’s WrestleMania, which is the plan right now.”

Cody Rhodes challenged Roman Reigns for his title at WrestleMania 39 but was unsuccessful thanks to interference from The Usos and Solo Sikoa. With The Usos now departed from The Bloodline, Rhodes’ prophecy of his family leaving him could come to fruition in time for The American Nightmare to face Reigns in a truly one-on-one bout.
