World Championship Announced For AEW Dynamite
World Championship gold will be on the line on AEW Dynamite.
At All Out, Kris Statlander brought “Timeless” Toni Storm’s AEW Women’s World Championship run to a shocking halt.
Storm had held the gold since beating Mariah May at Grand Slam Australia in February, defeating several big names since. This included handing Mercedes Mone her first defeat since she signed with the company in March 2024.
In a wild four-way match, which also included Thekla and Jamie Hayter, Statlander caught Storm by surprise with a seatbelt pin.
At the post-show press conference, Statlander said her victory was even more special after losing so many opportunities through injury in the past. With the win, Statlander became the first woman to win the TBS and World Championships.
Kris Statlander To Defend AEW Women’s World Championship
In a post on social media, Tony Khan announced that Statlander will be making the first defence of her World Title against Mina Shirakawa. The challenger has stepped up to avenge the loss of her close friend Storm.
“After her All Out World Title win, Statlander said she wants be a fighting champ! On a winning streak + aiming to avenge Toni, Mina’s stepped up! Stat vs Mina TOMORROW!”
Meanwhile, it’s been revealed that Tony Khan will be making an important announcement on the show. Although there’s no word on what he’ll be announcing, Women’s Tag Team Championships, women’s Blood and Guts, and a Women’s Continental Classic have all been speculated online.
In the only match currently announced for Dynamite, Kazuchika Okada will team with Hechicero and Konosuke Takeshita to face Mark Briscoe, Hologram, and a mystery partner.
