Will Ospreay “Won’t Lose Sleep” If He Never Appears At WrestleMania
Whilst admitting he’d like the big stage, Will Ospreay wouldn’t be worried if he never competed on WWE’s biggest stage.
Current New Japan Pro Wrestling star Will Ospreay has made a name for himself as a globetrotting wrestler, and when his current contract expires there will no doubt be plenty of organizations vying for his signature.
Many would see ‘The Aerial Assassin as being extremely popular if he made the move to WWE. Having discussed in the past how he doesn’t want to live in America, Ospreay has now admitted he wouldn’t lose any sleep if he didn’t appear at WrestleMania.
During an interview with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Will Ospreay said it would be nice to wrestle at ‘The Showcase Of The Immortals’, but it’s not something he has to do.
Not like in that sense of this but like, of course I would love to wrestle in front of 80,000 people who wouldn’t want to wrestle? But like, in the same sense of, I’m not going to lose sleep if I never do it. But you know what I mean? Like I never wanted to get to this level of fame with wrestling. I just enjoyed doing it on the weekends. And New Japan offers me a lot of money, and I was just like ‘Whoa, I can make money from this.
Ospreay continued by confirming he’d had an offer from WWE in the past, but chose NJPW so that he could return to the United Kingdom between appearances.
Here’s the thing I told you this, but like WWE, TNA and New Japan were on the table at the same time. And like the selling point in New Japan was that I get to come home. WWE, I have to move there, TNA, most likely the same thing and it wasn’t guaranteed money. In New Japan, I get to come home. And I’m a real home guy. So like the fact that I’ve got to come home was like, incredible.
During the interview, Will Ospreay also admitted that he didn’t enjoy working with a WWE Hall Of Famer.
