Will Ospreay & Swerve Strickland To Team In AEW
They might be facing each other for the AEW World Championship but now Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay will have to team up before Forbidden Door.
Swerve Strickland retained his AEW World Title at Double Or Nothing with a big win over Christian Cage despite interference from The Patriarchy. But as champion a new challenger is never far away and Strickland didn’t have to wait long to find out who he’d be facing at Forbidden Door.
On Dynamite in Los Angeles, a Casino Gauntlet match took place to find the number one contender for the AEW World Title that will face Strickland at Forbidden Door. Stars from CMLL and NJPW entered the match alongside AEW talents but ultimately it was the current AEW International Champion Will Ospreay that picked up the win.
Will Ospreay Comes Face-To-Face With MJF
The 19th of June edition of Dynamite saw Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay come face-to-face as their healthy respect threatened to turn ugly ahead of their Forbidden Door title match. Later in the night, Strickland’s former group The Cage of Agony attacked Daniel Garcia and Matt Menard leading to MJF trying to make the save as he will face Hechicero at Forbidden Door.
With the numbers advantage still with Brian Cage’s group, Will Ospreay intervened and ended up having a brief staredown with MJF. A furious Cage later confronted Ospreay backstage and challenged the English star for his International Title on Collision, a challenge that Ospreay accepted.
It’s now been confirmed that Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland will also team up on the 26th of June edition of Dynamite where they will face Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona in a huge tag team match just days before they clash for AEW’s biggest prize.
