Will Ospreay AEW

Will Ospreay has recalled the promo that he saw on AEW television that made him want to be a part of the company.

It was in November 2023 when it was officially announced that former New Japan star Will Ospreay had signed with AEW rather than going to WWE. After fulfilling his remaining dates with NJPW, Ospreay became a part of the AEW roster regularly in March of 2024.

Since he began with AEW, Ospreay has had an incredible year by having rivalries with Maxwell Jacob Friedman, former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland, and fellow Brit PAC to name a few.

Will Ospreay’s first year in AEW saw the talented Brit defeat Bryan Danielson at AEW Dynasty in a dream match that was praised around the world.

As the current AEW International Champion, Ospreay has given the title a lot of credibility because he has outstanding matches regularly and the AEW fans love him for having such an incredible work ethic.

A Promo From Jon Moxley Convinced Will Ospreay To Sign With AEW

All Elite Wrestling is celebrating five years of AEW Dynamite this coming Wednesday, October 2nd, so they have asked wrestlers in the company to talk about the history of AEW and why they are there.

In a video posted by AEW on social media, Ospreay spoke about a passionate promo from former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley in September 2022, which was after the infamous All Out PPV backstage fight involving CM Punk and The Young Bucks & Kenny Omega.

During that promo, Moxley said:

“Winners want the ball when the game is on the line. The Ace wants the ball. I want the ball. I’m going to take the shot. This isn’t just the fourth quarter. This isn’t just winning time. This is time to be a legend.”

Here’s what Ospreay said about that Moxley promo inspiring Ospreay to sign with AEW when he became a free agent.

“My favourite Dynamite moment was when Jon Moxley stepped into the ring and spoke from the heart to the audience about how it was time to be a legend.

And I sat in a room in Japan looking at the words that he said and how he rallied the troops and rallied all the fans into continuously believing in AEW.

From that moment I knew I wanted to be a part of this place.”

Up next for Will Ospreay is an AEW International Title defense against high-flier Ricochet on the fifth anniversary of Dynamite on October 2nd.
