Will Ospreay Is An Alien

Will Ospreay

AEW star Will Ospreay is as good as many think he is according to one man who’s stood across the ring from the English star.

Will Ospreay has impressed many for years now in New Japan Pro Wrestling and AEW through his incredible in-ring performances. For those interested in how Dave Meltzer rates matches, Ospreay now has 49 bouts rated at 5 stars or above, putting him miles ahead of the two stars sharing second place, Kazuchika Okada and Kenny Omega who have 28 such matches each.

Now one man who has shared a ring with Ospreay in a six-star classic in 2024 has explained just what it’s like to compete with The Assassin.

Michael Oku Praises “Incredible” Will Ospreay

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, British wrestling standout Michael Oku explained why getting in the ring with Ospreay gave him a greater level of trust:

He’s an alien. He’s not from here. The thing with Will compared to other wrestlers, of course with any wrestler you need a level of trust but with other wrestlers, there might be a level of doubt that this might not be able to be pulled off correctly or accurately, there’s things that I did for the first time in my life in that Will Ospreay match because either he called it or I just thought of an idea.

And I had no doubt in my mind that it was gonna work because he was either gonna lift me or base me and move me around how he wanted to, he was gonna take it and make it amazing. There’s nothing like wrestling Will where you can trust that everything is gonna go without a hitch. He’s truly incredible.

Michael Oku has competed in one match for AEW as he took on Serpentico in a dark match when the company debuted in Cardiff, Wales. Oku’s standout match with Ospreay took place in a RevPro ring in February 2024 with Oku successfully defending his RevPro Undisputed British Heavyweight Title.
