Will Ospreay’s Injuries Worse Than Previously Thought

Will Ospreay

Will Ospreay is taking time off.

At All In, Will Ospreay teamed with Swerve Strickland to tackle the Young Bucks in a tag team match with major stakes. If the Bucks won, Ospreay and Strickland wouldn’t have been able to challenge for the World Championship for a year.

However, when Ospreay and Strickland got the better of the Jackson brothers after a wild match that wowed fans, they were stripped of their EVP status.

But that wasn’t their only action for the victors on the show. In the main event, Ospreay ran out to help “Hangman” Adam Page against Jon Moxley, but he was destroyed by Claudio Castagnoli and a steel chair. By contrast, Strickland fared much better, handing Page the steel chain he used to choke Moxley on his way to victory.

Following the event, it was reported that Will Ospreay would be going on hiatus to deal with a series of nagging injuries.

Will Ospreay Dealing With Long-Running Injury Problems

Reporting in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that Ospreay had been “hurting for a while” after a gruelling first half of 2025. Unfortunately for the star, his injuries were found to be “worse than he thought,” and he’s now expected to meet with doctors in the U.S. in the coming days.

While there’s no word on how long he’ll be out of action, Ospreay had been expected to play a major role at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door in London, England, on August 24.

The news comes after it was reported that Kenny Omega will also be stepping back from in-ring action. There’s no word on whether he’ll be disappearing from television completely or just reducing his workload in the coming weeks.

Omega only returned to the ring in January after missing 13 months of action after being diagnosed with diverticulitis. He’s since revealed that at the time of his diagnosis, his condition had become life-threatening.
