Will Ospreay Fires Back At Recent Criticism

Will Ospreay hits Ricochet on AEW Dynamite

Will Ospreay is moving forward.

AEW Dynamite celebrated its fifth anniversary in fine style on October 2nd with two huge match-ups. While Bryan Danielson and Kazuchika Okada resumed their rivalry in the main event, earlier in the night, Will Ospreay put his International Title on the line against Ricochet.

The pair have a rivalry stretching back several years and set the internet on fire with one stunningly acrobatic match in Japan in particular. The match divided fans at the time, and it seems little has changed.

On Dynamite, Ospreay and Ricochet picked up where they left off in 2017, referencing their famous battle at NJPW Best of the Super Juniors. However, not everyone was happy to see the callback.

In a post on social media, Ospreay addressed the criticism of the sequence and the match in general, commenting that he appreciates the love and the hate.

Man 8 years on and it still sparks emotion out of you guys.

I appreciate the love & hate. It’s all criticism to take on board to help grow us as performers.

But I think more is to come.

For his part, Ricochet responded to several fans who were critical of the match, letting them know in no uncertain terms that he disagreed with their opinion.

The match initially ended in a no-contest, after both men pinned each other simultaneously. Once the action was restarted, Konosuke Takeshita appeared to destroy both men.

Will Ospreay Set For Action At AEW WrestleDream

Following the chaos on Dynamite, Tony Khan announced that Will Ospreay will defend his International Title in a three-way match at WrestleDream. After being denied on October 2nd, Ricochet will get a second shot at the gold, while Takeshita has the chance to finish what he started.

Meanwhile, it’s been reported by Fightful Select that Takeshita is set for the biggest push of his AEW career which will establish him as an “upper card talent.”

Despite being held in high regard by fans and industry observers, Takeshita has yet to taste championship gold since becoming All Elite.
