Will Ospreay Betrayed At AEW WrestleDream As He Loses International Title

Will Ospreay AEW

Will Ospreay is no longer the AEW International Champion.

At All In, Will Osperay defeated MJF to regain the International Title in front of a delighted home crowd. However, just two months later, that reign is over.

On the October 2nd edition of Dynamite, the star put the gold on the line against Ricochet, but the match ended in a No Contest after Konosuke Takeshita attacked both men. It was later revealed that Don Callis had told Takeshita to launch the assault. Ospreay had previously been part of the Don Callis Family before deciding to go his own way.

This set up a three-way match between Will Ospreay, Ricochet, and Konosuke Takeshita at WrestleDream.

Will Ospreay Betrayed By Former Friend

The story of the match saw Ospreay and Ricochet going to increasingly acrobatic lengths to try and outdo each other while Takeshita used his power advantage to try and destroy the pair.

As the bout fled towards a conclusion, Takeshita sent Ricochet smashing through a table, before being hit by a Hidden Blade from Ospreay. Although he kicked out, he was hit again, only for Callis to grab the referee. Callis tried to hit Ospreay with a screwdriver, but it was blocked, and Ospreay teased hitting a Tiger Driver.

However, with Callis in position, Ospreay was attacked from behind with a screwdriver by Kyle Fletcher allowing Takeshita to grab the win and the title. After the match, Fletcher hit Ospreay with a Tiger Driver 93.

Ospreay and Fletcher had previously been friends as part of the United Empire and Don Callis Family. The pair most recently teamed together at Grand Slam where they challenged the Young Bucks for the World Tag Team Titles.

Meanwhile, Will Ospreay recently hit out at critics who claim he doesn’t sell properly during his matches. The British star pointed to the Japanese legends he trained under poking fun at the idea that they didn’t think to tell him to sell during matches. He added that people who criticise him often don’t understand where he came from or what he’s been through.
