Will Ospreay Eyes Up AEW World Title Through The Owen

Will Ospreay

Will Ospreay is putting his past behind him and looking to the future as he plots his route to the AEW World Title through an annual tournament.

Will Ospreay left Kyle Fletcher bloodied and battered at Revolution as he defeated his old partner in a steel cage match. On the March 12 edition of Dynamite, Ospreay revealed what was next for him as he looked to leave his past behind him.

Proving that time moves just too quickly, Will Ospreay became the first AEW star to declare his entry into the 2025 Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. Ospreay confirmed that The Owen was his route to the main event of All In Texas in July with the winner of the tournament challenging for the AEW World Championship at the stadium show.

Will Ospreay Calls His Shot For AEW Title Match

Ospreay is biding his time with calling his shot as Adam Copeland will get a rematch for the title against Jon Moxley with the winner of that match defending the gold against the new number one contender Swerve Strickland at Revolution.

2024 was the first year that the winner of the Owen Hart Tournaments earned title shots. That is what led to Mariah May brutally turning on Toni Storm and also Bryan Danielson defeating Swerve Strickland to win the AEW World Championship.

Britt Baker and Adam Cole were the first winners of the now-annual Owen Hart Tournaments in 2022. The following year Willow Nightingale and Ricky Starks won The Owen in Hart’s hometown of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
