Will Ospreay Says AEW Newcomer Is “One Of The Best Ever”
Will Ospreay is very excited about an AEW newcomer joining the company.
It was reported this week that former WWE Intercontinental Champion Ricochet has signed with All Elite Wrestling for a multi-year agreement. The move was anticipated when it was known that Ricochet’s WWE deal was set to expire.
The biggest AEW PPV of the year, All In London, takes place this Sunday, August 25th at Wembley Stadium. Ricochet may make his debut at All In because there’s a Casino Gauntlet Match where people will be involved in the match without being officially announced before the match takes place.
When Ricochet arrives in AEW, one of the most anticipated matches will likely be a singles match against Will Ospreay. There were some great matches between Ricochet and Ospreay before Ricochet joined WWE in early 2018. There were also clips of their matches that went viral because of how athletic the two men are.
In an interview with talkSPORT, Will Ospreay shared his excitement about Ricochet coming to AEW while speaking about their prior match in NJPW as well.
“That whole match kind of changed my perspective on wrestling, it changed my output and how people viewed me. But I feel like him coming in now, it’s one of those things where we [did] that match, and we went off on our separate journeys, and now we’re coming back together again.”
“For me now, it’s like, this is your chance now. This is your chance to show people. Because look around. Look at this generation of wrestlers, look what everybody is doing when it comes to that athletic style of pro wrestling, right? It’s him.”
“He is the guy that did it, and he’s just got to find that fire within himself because he knows he can do it. I honestly feel like he’s just been downplayed for so bloody long that people have forgotten the freak athlete that he is.”
“So if it is true, and if he is coming to AEW, I’m calling out to remind everybody who the f**k you are, bruv. Because you, without a shadow of a doubt, were the man. Dragon Gate, PWG, the indies, around the world, no one could f**king touch you. So I am calling you out, bruv. I am saying, remind the world that you are one of the best to have ever done this s**t, man. Because I believe it, and if I believe it, you’ve gotta believe in yourself now, boss.”
Will Ospreay Things AEW Backstage Problems Are Overblown
It was reported on August 2nd that there was a backstage altercation involving Britt Baker, Alicia Atout, and MJF that led to Baker getting suspended due to whatever she said to MJF and his girlfriend Atout. Baker was suspended for only a week and wasn’t punished in terms of a push since she’s still facing Mercedes Mone for the TBS Title at AEW All In.
According to Will Ospreay, the whole thing was blown out of proportion.
“The most completely blown out of proportion thing I ever seen in my entire life.”
“I am just trying to bring people together as a team. That’s all I can say. I’m fully aware people don’t like each other backstage. I know there are people backstage that I don’t like. My whole thing is that going forward we all need to be a team. We all need to look after one another.”
At AEW All In London, England’s own Will Ospreay will try to take the AEW American Title back from MJF and if he does, he may bring back the International Title name back for the title.
