Will Jey Uso Lose World Title To Gunther? Ex-WWE Star Predicts Outcome
With Money in the Bank PLE now taken care of, it’s time for WWE Raw in Phoenix.
The turn of the week comes with a couple of updates, including the beginning of the King and Queen of the Ring Tournament matches and the return of Nikki Bella.
Another match that headlines this episode is Jey Uso vs. Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Preparations for this match have been underway since mid-May, with both wrestlers even facing off a couple of times and engaging in a war of words.
Uso had defeated Gunther on Day 1 of WrestleMania 41 by making him tap out to a chokehold.
Since then, the Austrian heavyweight has set his sights on retaining the title.
He has also maintained a low profile, having wrestled in only one match against Pat McAfee at Backlash, which he won.
Jey Uso To Lose Title To Gunther?
Jey Uso’s title run as the Heavyweight Champion has received mixed reactions.
Former wrestlers, in particular, have come down hard on him, whereas the court of public opinion has been overwhelmingly positive.
Aiden English, who was released by WWE in 2020, weighed in on this much-anticipated match while appearing on the REBOOKED Wrestling Podcast.
When asked whether Uso could lose to Gunther, he said:
I don’t think he does, but he could. Most of the time when you have like a TV title match, usually there’s shenanigans, something happens, but the champion stays the champion. I would say this is more than a 0% chance like that. I think this is a bit closer to 50/50, but I still think Jey keeps it.
Jey Uso competed in a tag team match at Money in the Bank PLE alongside Cody Rhodes, with the pair facing WWE Undisputed Champion John Cena and Logan Paul.
Uso and Rhodes won the match after the latter pinned Cena.
