Why WWE Won’t Be Taking WrestleMania To Australia
As WWE’s global reach continues to grow one of the company’s stars has given their honest assessment of WrestleMania one day taking place in Australia.
Back at Money In The Bank 2023, John Cena made a shock appearance in London, England where he teased WWE bringing WrestleMania to the city in the future. However, the chances of that happening have grown to be very slim with England missing out on another major WWE show recently.
During Cena’s appearance, he was interrupted by Grayson Waller who boldly claimed that his homeland of Australia would be a much better host for WrestleMania. Perth, Australia played host to Elimination Chamber in February 2024 but could WWE’s biggest show of the year really go Down Under?
Grayson Waller Rules Out WWE WrestleMania In Australia
Speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Grayson Waller was more candid about the chances of Australia one day getting WrestleMania and admits he doesn’t think it’ll ever happen:
If I have to be honest, no. Australia, I’m sorry it’s not going to happen. The time zone is rough, and I get that. WrestleMania is such a big show, it’s our showcase, and we want the most eyes on it. I think in Australia, that would be a very difficult process to have, especially flying everything down, it’s a big effort, but I think having Elimination Chamber there is massive.
I don’t think people realize how massive it was. That’s the show that sets up WrestleMania. All the things that happen on that show set up the biggest show of the year.
So for me, I don’t think WrestleMania is ever going to be in Australia. Would I love it to happen? Obviously, it would mean the world to me, but I’m realistic, and I think Australia has the opportunity to have way more big shows. I’ve heard some whispers that, you know, we might be heading back somewhat soonish.
While it remains to be seen when WWE will return to Australia, AEW is heading to Brisbane for the first time ever with Grand Slam in February 2025.
