Why Vince Russo Thinks MJF To WWE Would Be A Career Killer
MJF might be a big name in AEW, but if he made the jump to WWE, it could kill his career, according to Vince Russo.
MJF held the AEW World Championship for 406 days, setting the record for the longest reign as the company’s top champion. His ascent in Tony Khan’s company has been startling, rising from being a loser in a battle royal on the company’s first pay-per-view to the main event of the company’s biggest ever show, the first All In London, in front of over 80,000 fans.
MJF is on the verge of joining The Hurt Syndicate after Bobby Lashley finally relented and gave him the third thumbs up he needed to get in the group. However, if The Salt of the Earth’s past is anything to go by, MVP, Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin might want to have eyes in the back of their head.
Despite all of this success in AEW, former WWE and WCW writer Vince Russo thinks that if he jumped to the TKO-owned company, it just wouldn’t work.
Would MJF In WWE Be A Career Killer?
Speaking on Coach & Bro, Vince Russo responded to a question on whether or not he thought MJF was WWE’s next megastar, and it’s safe to say the answer is no:
I think it would be a career killer for MJF to be honest with you. MJF is a guy that goes out and does what he wants to do and says what he wants to say. You’re not gonna be able control him, you’re not gonna be able to put a thumb on him and if you try to do that you are completely gonna kill him.
The good thing is, I think he knows that. I think he understands that. His freedom is very, very important to his character. We just told you 30 seconds ago the control WWE has over their talent. He would be miserable there if they tried to control him in that manner.
