Why Vince McMahon Joining AEW Would Save The Company
Vince McMahon heading to AEW sounds next to impossible.
The former WWE chairman resigned from the company in 2024 after a lawsuit was filed against him, citing sexual abuse and trafficking.
Since then, reports have emerged about McMahon starting his own company.
On the other hand, AEW continues to remain WWE’s closest rival. However, for over a year, the Tony Khan-led company has struggled to fill stadiums in small markets.
In December 2024, Khan dismissed related reports, stating AEW had cleared more than $1.25 million in sales for AEW All In scheduled for July 12, 2025.
While the figures are impressive, it remains to be seen how much revenue the company generates in ticket sales until July.
Historically, the 2023 All In event generated $10 million, whereas the 2024 event generated $6 million.
AEW’s weekly shows, such as Dynamite and Collision, have also not experienced massive ticket sales. In fact, the shows have rarely sold more than 2,000 tickets each between March and May 2025.
As the Florida-based company seeks solutions, a former WWE talent predicts AEW’s future, involving Vince McMahon.
Vince McMahon Could Help AEW Improve Ticket Sales
As Vince McMahon remains focused on building his new company, reports have floated that he may be looking for investment opportunities.
Ex-WWE employee Stevie Richards, while talking on his podcast, The Stevie Richards Show, said AEW can align with McMahon to save themselves.
It’s just strictly theory. I know there’s all these different parameters and things that are going on, especially with the NDAs, the Janel Grant lawsuit, all that stuff.
But I still believe the easiest path for everybody to benefit is for Vince McMahon to be an on-air character with AEW. And he can save it. He’ll save that promotion from getting cut from WBD. [54:05 onwards]
McMahon recently unsuccessfully attempted to purchase Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.
