Why Tony Khan Used Frank Sinatra Song For ROH Entrance
Tony Khan has explained the reasons behind using the music of Frank Sinatra at ROH Final Battle.
The company held the highly anticipated show at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom on 20th November. The famous venue is perhaps best recognised for being the original host site of WWE Raw following it’s 1993 debut.
Chris Jericho successfully defended his ROH World Championship against Matt Cardona at Final Battle having made his way to the squared circle to the sounds of Sinatra classic ‘New York, New York’.
Speaking during the ROH Final Battle Post Show Media Scrum, Khan revealed that the decision to use the song was based on Chris Jericho’s current ‘King of New York’ persona:
“For the King of New York, I thought it would be appropriate. Chris Jericho is the King of New York, so what better way for him to come to the ring for his championship match than ‘New York, New York.’
I thought it would be something special and it came out great. It was a great part of the presentation. Since we all woke up in a city that never sleeps, we all wanted to play that song. It was a great moment and something special for Final Battle.”
Tony Khan Wanted To Sign Popular Star In 2019
Chris Jericho’s joy at retaning the ROH World Championship was short lived, however, when Bandido made a shock return to thwart a continued assault on Cardona by Jericho, Big Bill and Bryan Keith.
The popular star 29 year-old star has been absent from the ring since June 2023 due to a wrist injury with his return recently teased with a series of vignettes aired on AEW television.
