Why The Young Bucks Arrived Late For AEW Return

The Young Bucks AEW

The Young Bucks didn’t arrive at the AEW Dynasty PPV until several hours after the show began.

It was on the October 30th, 2024 edition of AEW Dynamite when The Young Bucks duo of Matthew & Nicholas Jackson were seen on television. On that night, the Bucks lost the AEW Tag Team Titles to Private Party and they also left the company for an undetermined amount of time.

Since then, they wrestled two matches in NJPW that saw them win and lose the IWGP Tag Team Titles, but they avoided AEW.

In the main event of AEW Dynasty, Jon Moxley defended the AEW World Championship against Swerve Strickland. Late in the match, the lights went out and when they came back on, The Young Bucks (Matthew & Nicholas Jackson) appeared, and they hit the double knee smash known as the BTE Trigger on Swerve. The referee didn’t see the Bucks in there, so Moxley covered Swerve with an arm across the chest and the referee returned to the ring to count the pinfall win for Moxley.

At the end of the show, The Young Bucks left through the crowd while the announcers wondered why the brothers, who are EVPs in AEW, would help Moxley retain his title.

When Did The Young Bucks Arrive At AEW Dynasty?

It has been reported by Dave Meltzer in a Wrestling Observer website exclusive that AEW had the Bucks arrive late so that their return wasn’t spoiled before it happened.

The Young Bucks didn’t arrive in the building until 10 p.m. They didn’t keep them sequestered or a secret as people saw them, but they came late enough that the idea was that it wouldn’t get out before the show started.

By the time The Young Bucks were needed in the ring, it was after 12 a.m., so that meant they had plenty of time to get out here and perform in front of the fans.

During their AEW careers so far, The Young Bucks are three-time Tag Team Champions and two-time Trios Tag Team Champions.

The Young Bucks were part of The Elite stable with Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada and former TNT Champion Jack Perry, but Perry has had a long absence from AEW as well. It’s unknown if the group is still together, so that could be something the Bucks address when they return to television.
