Why The Undertaker Refused Rhea Ripley Moment On WWE Raw

The Undertaker

The Undertaker has admitted he wanted no part of sharing the screen with Rhea Ripley when he returned to WWE Raw.

After feuding for most of 2024, Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan clashed again on the January 6 edition of Raw and this time Ripley got more than just revenge on Morgan. What was billed as a last woman standing match lost that stipulation as Ripley came out on top with two Riptides to win the Women’s World Championship.

After the match, Dominik Mysterio made a pathetic attempt to reunite with Ripley but she kicked him below the belt before dropping him with a Riptide for good measure.

As Ripley made her way to the back, The Undertaker made a shock appearance as his American Badass character as he rode a bike down to ringside and shared a moment with the new champion. But the WWE Hall of Famer didn’t want to rain on Rhea Ripley’s parade.

The Undertaker Hesitant To Appear With Rhea Ripley

Speaking on his Six Feet Under podcast, The Undertaker explained why his appearance on Raw changed and he was against overshadowing Ripley’s huge moment:

Originally, I was going to do an entrance and an interview, which would have been fine. I think they had somebody that was going to interview me. And then they just thought (Taker appearing after Ripley vs. Morgan) would make that whole thing even bigger for (Ripley).

When they told me, at first, I was like, ‘I don’t think so.’ And I was like, ‘That’s her moment. I don’t want to step on any part of that. This is the payoff to a very long storyline and I sure don’t want to come out and step on her moment.’

The Undertaker was talked into the moment when it was presented as him and Ripley simply crossing paths:

They basically explained that she’s going to have a moment in the ring, she’s going to have this moment where you two will cross paths. And I was like, ‘Okay, well now if it’s like that then it’s pretty cool.’

Not that our characters are similar, but they are a little bit. It was just me dabbing her up there a little bit.

Rhea Ripley will defend her Women’s World Championship against Nia Jax after the two women ended up in a brawl on the January 20 edition of Raw.
