Why Taz Tribute Did Not Make Air On AEW Dynamite
AEW held a very special ceremony to honour Taz, but there was a very good reason the segment did not air on Dynamite.
In the minutes after the August 27th episode of Dynamite went off the air, a whole raft of AEW stars, family members, and AEW personnel came to the ring as part of a tribute to ECW legend Taz.
The taping was being held in the famous 2300 Arena, which was once home to the Extreme brand. It was then announced by Tony Khan that Taz would be inducted into the venue’s Hardcore Hall of Fame.
While addressing fans, Taz thanked his wife and Hook — who made his AEW return on the show — for “kayfabing” him, and said that he had some special memories in the building.
Taz’s banner was set to be hung in the rafters of the building on the following edition of Collision, but at the former ECW World Champion’s request, that was delayed until the September 3rd edition of Dynamite so more of his family could attend.
Taz Made AEW Dynamite Request
Fans hoping to see Taz honoured on Dynamite might have been left disappointed, however, as the banner unveiling did not air on the show, for very good reason. Tony Khan and Taz went live on social media, where Taz revealed he’d asked for his honour to take place before Dynamite so the show could be fully focused on the current roster of AEW talent.
