Why Suprise TNA Move Could Force Ex-WWE Star Out

TNA is seeking to make a major change in the company, which has an ex-WWE name questioning their future.

Anthem Sports Group president Carlos Silva spoke to JohnWallStreet.com about his plans for TNA to seek a media rights deal that would see the promotion run live TV shows 52 weeks a year.

According to Silva, he is trying to capitalise on the boost TNA’s partnership with WWE has given them:

We are [regularly] being featured on every major WWE and NXT platform — PLEs as well as weekly programming on The CW and their other [broadcast] outlets like Peacock. This [has resulted in] a huge [television] audience lift for [us], along with all the social media support we get from [them].

Silva added that TNA is looking to earn $10 million per year for such a deal, and he thinks a substantial growth in viewers is very possible on the right network:

Usually when we’re live, we’re doing around 100,000 household viewers. A weekly number between 250,000–500,000, in terms of Nielsen-esque P2+ households, is perfectly realistic on a network in 40 or 50 million homes.

However, the move could have some unintended consequences for the company.

Lance Storm Won’t Work For TNA Every Single Week

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, former WWE star and current TNA producer Lance Storm gave his thoughts on the move and why it might end his time in the company:

This has been talked about many times and my answer is always there’s a good chance I won’t be working there if that happens. I love TNA, I love my job, I love everyone that I work with but my life has always been a balance of my home life and my schedule. The idea of flying out early Wednesday to not get home until later in the day Friday is a three-day a week job and I’m not sure that’s in the cards for me anymore.

Maybe we could work out a deal that I didn’t do every week, who knows. I would do everything I could to stay with the company should that happen and that would be great if they could get a great media rights deal. But I’m not looking at a full time schedule at this point in my life.
