Why Paul Heyman Wasn’t Surprised By Goldberg’s Shots At WWE
Bill Goldberg had his retirement match at Saturday Night’s Main Event against Gunther.
He challenged the then-champion, The Ring General, for the World Heavyweight Championship for his retirement match.
While he put up a great fight, he ultimately succumbed to the Sleeper Hold, and the referee called for the bell.
Goldberg wasn’t happy with how WWE handled his retirement speech
The match was executed well, but unfortunately, his retirement speech was not.
The broadcast cut off airing the program approximately 20 seconds into his speech, and the Hall of Famer was not happy about it at all.
He reacted rather negatively to it, and WWE was expected to respond harshly. Nevertheless, the entire speech remained uploaded on WWE’s YouTube channel.
While speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Paul Heyman explained why Da Man took shots at WWE following SNME.
It’s Bill. Bill Goldberg had very, very high expectations for WWE. In Bill Goldberg’s mind, they weren’t met. I’m not gonna sit here and tell you Bill Goldberg was wrong. I’m not going to tell you WWE was wrong. I’m going to tell you this is how Goldberg felt and he’s not shy in letting people know how he feels. I’m not surprised. It’s Bill. This is how he feels, and he’s going to let you know about it. [h/t: Fightful]
It is unknown if Da Man will ever come out of retirement or not, but he does want his son, Gage Goldberg, to be a part of WWE.
