Why Mystery Man Really Attacked CM Punk At WWE Survivor Series
A new report has shed light on why a mystery attacker targeted CM Punk at WWE Survivor Series.
Survivor Series was dominated by two huge WarGames matches as the double-ring steel cage match returned to WWE.
The women’s match pitted Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, Rhea Ripley, IYO SKY, and AJ Lee against the Kabuki Warriors, Becky Lynch, Lash Legend, and Nia Jax. Lee led her squad to victory as she forced Lynch to tap out to her Black Widow submission hold.
The men’s match saw an all-star team of WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, and Roman Reigns take on Brock Lesnar, Drew McIntyre, Logan Paul, Bron Breakker, and Bronson Reed.
CM Punk suffered an attack from a mystery assailant who hit him with a Stomp. That allowed Breakker to nail Punk with a spear and pick up the win for his team.
Why Did Austin Theory Take Out CM Punk?
Reports almost immediately revealed that the mystery man was former US Champion, Austin Theory. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed what WWE’s motivation for having Theory attack Punk really is:
Well, I mean, the deal is that number one, they want to establish the guy, you know, when he is unmasked. I’m sure he’s going to get in the Vision because that was always the plan. You know, it’s Austin Theory.
Originally, he was going to be in the match, but they introduced him and had him do something significant, or else, ‘it’s Austin Theory, you know what I mean. What’s he doing in the main event group?’ That was the key to make you think, they want to bring him in with a little bit of shine, so that was what that was all about.
It remains to be seen when Theory’s identity will be revealed, but all eyes are sure to be on the December 1st edition of Raw.
