Why John Cena’s Favourite WWE Shirt Was A Total Failure
John Cena has a favourite among all his WWE shirts, but it seems that commercially, it was a complete disaster.
John Cena has had more t-shirts than some WWE stars have had hot dinners during his iconic career. Cena’s career can be traced back over a course of multi-coloured shirts as much as it can be by feuds or matches. This famously led to The Rock likening Cena to a bowl of Fruity Pebbles during their feud in the early 2010s.
But which of Cena’s eclectic merchandise options was Cena’s favourite?
John Cena Put His Foot Down Over WWE Shirt
Speaking at the Philadelphia Fan Expo, John Cena explained why his favourite shirt was a commercial disaster as it was sold as part of a bundle including an ill-fated NFT for an eye-watering price:
My favorite one of all time is a very limited one. It’s the Super Mario parody. I thought it would be great. We were going to run 500 shirts. We sold a championship belt, wristbands, an NFT, an autograph, and a commemorative book. The price point was way too high. I learned my lesson. We only sold like 15 shirts.
It’s like the rarest ever John Cena shirt. It’s like serial numbered. WWE, after we ran the kit, they were like, ‘It’s a dope shirt, we should sell them all at regular price.’ It’s the one time I put my foot down and said, ‘No, there are people out there that spent a lot of their resources and I want them to have a collectible.’ It’s the only shirt of mine I ever saved. I have serial number 000. I think that’s the dopest shirt.
John Cena will face R-Truth at Saturday Night’s Main Event after the Undisputed WWE Champion attacked Truth after Backlash despite the confused star helping Cena to retain his title against Randy Orton.
