Why John Cena Had To Lose His WWE Retirement Match
John Cena’s final match is done and dusted, but everyone is still talking about it.
It is going to be a while before fans stop talking about The Champ’s final match. Primarily because John Cena tapped out against Gunther in the final match.
The Ring General is receiving a lot of heat after the match, and he was booed continuously.
Seth Rollins believes the match’s ending was John Cena’s idea
While speaking to Jay Mohr on Mohr Stories, Seth Rollins was asked about the match’s ending and what may have made Never Seen 17 tap out.
The Visionary explained that it may have been John Cena’s idea to tap out because that would get the fans talking about it. The Champ followed the custom of putting the guy over on the way out, and that is where most of the buzz was generated.
I have a sneaky suspicion that it was his idea. I don’t know if that’s true because I didn’t ask. If I’m blowing up your spot John, I’m sorry. I think it was his idea, personally. I think it was his idea. It’s customary in our business to, when you’re on your way out, put the guy over. If John Cena had won the match, we wouldn’t even be having the conversation today. No one would be talking about it. At the end of it, we’d be like, ‘Aw, that was great.’ That’s it. There would be no money to be made.
John Cena has claimed he will never return to WWE for another match, and the company does not intend to ask him for the same either.
