Why Jey Uso Treats Every WWE Show Like His First Time

Jey Uso

Jey Uso has explained why he treats every WWE show like it’s his first.

The 39 year-old Superstar is on the finest run of his near-18 career having captured the imagination of fans with his ‘YEET’ catchphrase and infectious crowd-pleasing ring entrance.

Uso is set to challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship, currently held by Gunther, in the main event of WrestleMania 41 having shocked the wrestling world by winning the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble after last eliminating heavy favourite John Cena to seal glory.

Despite his recent singles success, Jey Uso has admitted that he has constantly feared being released by the company over the years, nothing his thoughts that the business was ‘cold’.

Speaking during a recent appearance on ‘Club 520‘, the former WWE Intercontinental Champion opened up about why he chooses to wrestle each night like it is his first show with the company:

“I ain’t gonna lie, every year I’ve been wrestling, I thought I’d get fired. That’s how I think. That’s how cold it is.

Everybody is coming. In this business, everybody is trying to come get the top spot. They are bringing in the little homies, and I’m on my way out. I’ve been on WWE TV for going on 15 years.

There was a moment in wrestling where there was no reaction or I wasn’t on TV and I’d show up to work and sit in the corner the whole time. What do I do? Every single night, I treat it like it’s my first time.

The energy out there is crazy. I really vibe off that. If I’m going to take up time off TV, our segments are slotted out with certain time. If I’m out there and they are going crazy, you’re gonna have to cut some time from the segment after me because they aren’t going to get higher than what’s going on right now.”

Jey Uso Fires Warning To Young Talent

10-time former Tag Team Champion Uso is now considered a veteran of the business having first signed with WWE in 2010. Despite still being a relatively young man, the San Francisco-born Superstar has noted his awareness of his age whilst also firing a warning to the up and coming Superstars in the locker room:

“I’ve always felt strong, but I feel the body creeping up. I’m 39 right now. It’s a young man’s game and I recognize it.

I just like stepping up and challenging all of them. They are gonna have to go through me and the top homies to take it. I’m not gonna let you take it if you’re not ready.”
