Why Hulk Hogan Thinks He Was Booed Loudly On WWE Raw

Hulk Hogan

Hulk Hogan was not welcome in Los Angeles on the first episode of WWE Raw on Netflix and he thinks he might know why.

The first edition of WWE Raw on Netflix saw several icons appear as The Rock crowned the undisputed Tribal Chief while The Undertaker shared a special moment with the new Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley. But one appearance that probably won’t be on WWE’s highlight reels for years to come is that of Hulk Hogan.

Hulk Hogan was accompanied by Jimmy Hart, who waved an American flag for much of Hogan’s promo. Despite the crowd in Los Angeles cheering Hogan’s iconic theme song when the star started to speak, the mood quickly turned. Hogan reverted to his old standards as he mentioned Andre The Giant and Randy Savage in an attempt to turn things around but such was the crowd’s disdain for Hogan that he managed to get those legends booed in the process as well.

Hogan attempted to suck up the fans by calling them his greatest tag team partner over the years but this was loudly jeered as well.

Hulk Hogan courted controversy by publicly endorsing Donald Trump. Hulk Hogan has also claimed that Trump offered him a job in the US government when he returns to power as president. And that is why Hogan thinks the crowd turned against him.

Hulk Hogan Thinks Politics Behind Negative Fan Reaction

Sportskeeda has reported that sources close to Hogan noted that he believes his political allegiance caused much of the upset as “he stood for what they didn’t stand for.” Hulk Hogan also seemed to know that he’d have to fight some of the crowd’s reaction as the show took place in Los Angeles and he “thought it was going to be 50/50.” It should be noted that The Undertaker has publicly endorsed Donald Trump and appeared on the show but he wasn’t booed.

Some might suggest there is more to the crowd reaction to Hulk Hogan rather than just who he voted for. Some might have been tired of the t-shirt-ripping antics that were out of date over 30 years ago never mind in 2025. Others might not appreciate Hogan’s long history of playing politics in the wrestling business that saw him succeed at the expense of others who worked harder or impressed more in the ring.

More likely, however, is that the majority of fans are still disgusted that Hogan was caught using extremely racist language and admitting to being racist in a recording that came to light as part of his lawsuit with Gawker. Hogan’s apology to the WWE locker room for the matter was said to be a case of him apologising for being caught and warning others of the dangers of secret recordings rather than him being truly sorry for what he said.
