Why Has Andrade Disappeared From AEW TV?
A new report has given a surprising update on Andrade’s AEW status.
On the October 1 edition of Dynamite, Andrade made history when he re-signed with AEW. By becoming All Elite for a second time, he became the first person to jump from WWE to AEW twice.
During his big comeback, the star confronted Kenny Omega and aligned with the Don Callis Family. It’s since been reported that Omega was moved into a rivalry with Andrade because that singles match would be easier on his body than a violent grudge match with Kyle Fletcher.
However, since that shocking debut, Andrade hasn’t been seen on AEW television since.
Andrade’s WWE Exit Gets Messy
At the time of his debut, it was reported that Andrade was fired by WWE after multiple wellness policy violations. It was noted that this meant he wasn’t bound by the usual 90-day non-compete clause, meaning he could sign with AEW immediately.
But it seems things might not be that simple.
As reported by Bryan Alvarez, the star’s subsequent disappearance from AEW is due to issues regarding a non-compete.
“Regarding Andrade, all I know is that he’s not injured, and something is holding him up regarding his non-compete with WWE.”
Alvarez went on to provide more context on Wrestling Observer Radio.
“Here’s what I heard. I don’t know what’s going on with Andrade, but I was told that he’s not hurt. He didn’t get himself fired. Apparently, something is up involving his WWE non-compete…
I was given the impression it could be something that could be resolved quickly, or it could be something that might not be resolved for a while, but it’s something related to the non-compete. When he was fired, remember we were told they [WWE] didn’t care.”
Dave Meltzer added that he’d been hearing similar things, adding that WWE had sent a letter to AEW regaridng the issue.
“That is what I’ve been hearing was WWE sent a letter and they [AEW] obviously didn’t know. AEW obviously believed that there was no non-compete. There were people who talked to people in WWE who also believed there was no non-compete but WWE apparently, you know, that’s the story that they said he can’t do them for 90 days.”
Since leaving WWE, Andrade has returned to the independent circuit where he won championship gold in Mexico. He’s due to compete in Puerto Rico on October 18.
