Why There’s A Real Chance Goldberg Dethrones Gunther In WWE Retirement Match
A wrestling veteran believes Goldberg could win the World Heavyweight Championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
The WWE Hall of Famer almost came to blows with The Ring General last October at Bad Blood after the World Heavyweight Champion took shots at him and his son, Gage.
The former Universal Champion later announced that he would be returning for a retirement match. Last Monday, he made his comeback as he confronted Gunther on RAW.
Goldberg told him that what had started between them in Atlanta, Georgia, his hometown, last year would end at the same place next month, at Saturday Night’s Main Event, making it clear to him that he was next. The title match was later made official.
While discussing the upcoming clash on The Coach & Bro Show, former WWE head writer Vince Russo claimed Goldberg likely would not want to lose to a superstar who had previously lost to Sami Zayn and Jey Uso.
Goldberg’s made such a big deal about the last match and he was promised the last match, I find it hard to believe that Goldberg is gonna wanna go out in a last match and lose to a guy that Sami Zayn beat and Jey Uso beat, but Goldberg can’t beat? I don’t know, Coach. [29:50 onwards]
Goldberg Believes He Earned The World Heavyweight Title Shot
The WWE Hall of Famer’s return was heavily criticized by several fans and experts, who claimed he skipped the line to get an unearned World Heavyweight Championship match.
However, the 58-year-old does not agree. Instead, Goldberg believes his legendary career has earned him that opportunity to fight for the title in his retirement match, as he revealed in a chat with JAKIB Sports.
I was 176-0. I don’t have to stand in freaking line. I don’t think so either, yeah, exactly.
It would be interesting to see if the Hall of Famer would win his fourth world title in WWE on July 12.
