Why Current WWE Star Left AEW Revealed
WWE has had many wrestlers on their roster who were earlier part of AEW. Six of the promotions’ current champions are ex-AEW wrestlers, with the likes of CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, and Jade Cargill being champions on the main roster.
Earlier this year, both Aleister Black and Rusev joined WWE after leaving All Elite Wrestling. Rusev returned to WWE after spending almost half a decade with Tony Khan’s promotion, but didn’t have a great time there.
His start in AEW was amazing as he quickly became TNT Champion, but dropped the title soon after, and things never remained the same for the former Miro.
Tony Khan reveals what went wrong with the WWE star
AEW co-founder and president, Tony Khan, was present at the most recent episode of the Ariel Helwani Show. He explained while talking to Ariel that both he and Rusev had different visions for the character.
“Miro is a great wrestler, and he was great in AEW. He was a TNT Champion. He and I just had, at times, different visions of things. That’s okay because everybody is entitled to different opinions and different ideas. That’s what this all is, different ideas. We just kind of drifted into different ideas of what we should be doing, and that’s okay. He worked in WWE before, and that clearly was a good experience for him. He clearly was excited to go back, and he did go back. I wish him the best. That must make sense for him and why he wanted to do it,” Khan said. [H/T: Fightful]
Rusev rejoined WWE this past April and has since had a decent run in the promotion. He’s currently competing in the “Last Time Is Now” tournament and defeated Damian Priest to advance to the next round.
