Why Cody Rhodes May Turn Heel At WWE Night Of Champions
Cody Rhodes has been the good guy for a while, and it resulted in him suffering at the hands of John Cena, who, too, was supposed to be the good guy.
John Cena turning heel on The American Nightmare at Elimination Chamber 2025 marked a significant milestone in WWE’s history. Following that, The Franchise Player dethroned Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41.
Currently, both superstars are added to the Night of Champions match card. John Cena is facing CM Punk with the Undisputed WWE Championship on the line, whereas Cody Rhodes will face Randy Orton in the King of the Ring tournament finals.
Cody Rhodes can change his character after King of the Ring victory
Given that it’s Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton, it’s rather difficult to predict a winner. The WWE Universe is divided about it since both of them have stories to complete as winner of the King of the Ring tournament.
The American Nightmare has been a babyface since he returned to WWE, and will possibly be babyface for a while. However, heel Cody Rhodes is something fans have been looking forward to.
During the Extreme Life with Matt Hardy podcast, the WWE Legend revealed that Rhodes turning heel after winning the King of the Ring tournament will be an exhilarating moment.
That’s a super interesting match because it’s hard to imagine either of those guys deeming themself as King. Not necessarily fitting with their characters. If Cody was gonna turn heel, I think it would be a super interesting thing if he was King Cody. The American Nightmare, King Cody.
Cody Rhodes has been one of the top favourites in WWE for the past couple of years. It is yet to be seen how WWE finishes John Cena and his story in December 2025.
