Why CM Punk Was Convinced AJ Lee Won’t Return To WWE

AJ Lee and CM Punk will take on Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch at Wrestlepalooza, which will mark Lee’s first match in WWE after a decade.

After The Second City Saint returned to WWE in 2023, fans had begun to wonder if AJ Lee would return to the ring as well.

Now that she is finally back in WWE, fans are waiting to see how her story continues after Wrestlepalooza, especially since she has hinted at pursuing the Women’s Intercontinental Championship.

CM Punk revealed why he thought AJ Lee would not return to WWE

During an interview with Peter Rosenberg & Big E, Punk was asked if he thought the former WWE Divas Champion would return to WWE.

He revealed that it would have been a hard ‘no’ since they never discussed wrestling. Additionally, he admitted that Lee was busy with scripts, production companies, etc., and he did not think she would return after ten years

I think it would have been a hard no. I never bothered her about it. I never asked her. We never watched wrestling, we didn’t talk about it. The ball was always going to be in her court, it just needed to be a conversation. Timing was super important. Timing, in this business, is everything. She’s so busy with everything else, that’s one of the bigger reasons why I just assumed, ‘Ten years, it’s long gone,’ and she has so many irons in so many different fires with production companies, so many different scripts, re-writes, doing her own acting. However, now that she is back, CM Punk is excited to see what she does and watch her legacy grow in WWE.
