Why CM Punk Wants To Teach Beloved WWE Star A Lesson

CM Punk wants to teach a WWE legend a lesson.

On April 19th, CM Punk finally achieved his dream of headlining WrestleMania. The fact that Paul Heyman accompanied him to the ring as he took on Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns should have been the icing on the cake. However, it turned out to be a disaster for both Punk and Reigns as Heyman turned on them to help Rollins achieve victory.

The following night, Dominik Mysterio captured the Intercontinental Championship for the first time. Punk has repeatedly made his dislike for Mysterio known and even hinted at challenging him for the belt. In a new interview with Netflix, though, he has instead set his sights on Dirty Dom’s father, Rey Mysterio, wanting to teach the Hall of Famer a lesson for “having such a brat kid.”

“The women are carrying the show a lot of times. I think Rhea Ripley is a superstar. Liv Morgan had an MVP year [in 2024]. I like watching Gunther compete. I hate Dominik Mysterio, that’s neither here nor there. Guys I want to work with — Jacob Fatu. Got a little taste at WarGames, but one-on-one stuff is my bread and butter, [there’s] more pressure that way … Finn Balor is fantastic. I selfishly want to lock back up with Rey Mysterio, teach him a lesson for having such a brat kid.”

CM Punk Traumatised Dominik Mysterio

For his part, Dominik Mysterio has hit out at CM Punk for “traumatising” him when he was a child. Punk feuded with Rey Mysterio in 2010, and dragged his whole family into the rivalry, including Dominik. The Intercontinental Champion has hated Punk ever since, claiming he “tortured” him during the feud.
