WWE Veteran Reveals Why CM Punk Does Not Need The World Heavyweight Championship

CM Punk

CM Punk will battle Jey Uso for the World Heavyweight Championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Seth Rollins vacated the title after suffering an injury following The Vision members’ brutal assault on Monday Night RAW. Punk was already the #1 Contender for the championship before Rollins vacated the title.

Adam Pearce conducted a Battle Royal to decide Punk’s opponent, which turned out to be Jey Uso.

CM Punk does not need the championship to be elevated

WWE veteran Bully Ray focused on how the World Heavyweight Championship can help either of the two superstars. According to him, if Punk is given the championship, it’s essentially a payoff for everything he has done. However, he doesn’t really need the championship since fans will love him regardless.

Pulling the trigger on Punk on a Saturday Night’s Main Event right now to become champion, that doesn’t feel right at all. Punk does not need a championship, and when the eventual day comes, night comes, that Punk wins the championship, it has to be the payoff of all payoffs, just like him finally getting to be in a main event of WrestleMania. Punk, much like a Dusty Rhodes — it’s a good place to be in — never needs a championship. When they put the championship on you, it’s just for the payoff. It’s coming right back off you because the people love you either way. [h/t: Wrestling Inc]

On the other hand, it has been claimed that CM Punk does deserve the championship for proving to be an absolute team player since he has been back. Whoever walks away with the championship will become an immediate target for The Vision members, especially Bron Breaker.
