Why Brock Lesnar May Squash John Cena At WWE Wrestlepalooza
John Cena may relive SummerSlam 2014 tonight at WWE Wrestlepalooza for a major reason.
The Never Seen 17 is set to square off with Brock Lesnar for the first time in almost a decade at tonight’s premium live event. Eleven years ago, Cena took a painful trip to Suplex City, receiving 16 German suplexes at the hands of The Beast Incarnate at SummerSlam.
Speaking on his Notsam Wrestling podcast, WWE analyst Sam Roberts did not rule out the possibility of history repeating itself at Wrestlepalooza.
The 42-year-old claimed Lesnar could squash Cena tonight to set up another match between the two WWE legends at Crown Jewel in Perth, Australia, in October.
There’s a very real possibility that with five appearances left in the WWE as an active wrestler after Wrestlepalooza that two more of them at least could be filled up with Brock Lesnar. There’s a world where, look, John Cena doesn’t have another show until Crown Jewel in Perth, meaning John Cena is booked for Crown Jewel, but he is not advertised for any of the TV leading to Crown Jewel.
So, how do we get John Cena from Wrestlepalooza to Crown Jewel without any TV appearances? We certainly can’t start a new story. Does that mean that Brock Lesnar k*lls him at Wrestlepalooza and he rebuilds until, you know, for three, four weeks, and then shows up in Perth, Australia to get his revenge on Brock Lesnar? It’s very, very possible. And that could be the story that we see at Wrestlepalooza. [6:38 onwards]
Cody Rhodes Believes John Cena Has The Edge In WWE Wrestlepalooza Match
In a recent interview with ESPN’s Get Up, WWE Champion Cody Rhodes discussed the highly anticipated clash between John Cena and Brock Lesnar at Wrestlepalooza.
The American Nightmare disclosed that he thinks The Never Seen 17 would have the edge in the upcoming fight.
It’s a very special match-up. In terms of Brock Lesnar, former UFC Heavyweight Champion, won the NCAAs, which is the hardest tournament in all of folkstyle wrestling. But then there’s John Cena. And John Cena is the ultimate red light guy, can do things that nobody can do. So, I’m giving John Cena the edge, but these guys won’t be here forever. This is a special moment in time. I’m excited to see it myself.
