Why Braun Strowman Is Okay With Tainted WWE Victory

Braun Strowman will take any win he can get as he focuses on competing at WrestleMania.

One of the most anticipated matches at WWE SmackDown in Bologna, Italy was the grudge match between Braun Strowman and Jacob Fatu.

The rivalry between Strowman and Fatu has seen the two powerhouses engage in multiple brawls over recent weeks while also competing in matches as well.

Before this match on SmackDown, the United States Champion LA Knight informed Strowman that whoever won the match between Strowman & Fatu would get a US Title shot.

Strowman and Fatu had a physical match that lasted about ten minutes. Strowman was in full control after running over Fatu on the floor with a shoulder tackle. Strowman followed up with a spinebuster. That’s when Tama Tonga showed up on the apron, so Strowman fought with him and brought him into the ring. This also led to Solo Sikoa showing up and he hit Strowman with a Samoan Spike for the disqualification finish because the referee was right there to see it.

The trio of Fatu, Sikoa, and Tonga attacked Strowman, so the US Champion LA Knight made the save for Strowman as the two men had a staredown in the ring.

In a backstage segment after the match, Fatu made it clear he wasn’t happy about Sikoa and Tonga costing him the match.

Braun Strowman Believes That Winning US Title Would Lead To A WrestleMania Match

Per the stipulation of the match, Braun Strowman will get to challenge LA Knight for the US Title on the March 28th edition of SmackDown in London, England.

While speaking to Cathy Kelley in a WWE digital exclusive video, Strowman talked about wanting to win the US Title and how it would set things up for him at WrestleMania.

“Look, when you’re fighting three guys every week, you take a win however you can get it. Disqualification, so be it, whatever. I’m the number one contender for the United States Championship right now. That’s the one title that has eluded me in my entire WWE career. I win the United States Championship, I’m a Grand Slam title, and a guaranteed shoe in WrestleMania.”

Strowman likely meant to say “I’m a Grand Slam champion” rather than “title” when speaking about his career. He is a former WWE Universal Champion, Tag Team Champion, and Intercontinental Champion, so a US TItle would indeed make him a Grand Slam Champion.
